Guardsman Group is seeking to identify a suitably qualified, experienced, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Human Resource Officer to join our dynamic company and contribute to the Group HR Department’s success. This position provides essential support across various HR functions.

Job Summary

Participate in the day-to-day processes within the Group HR Unit. Assist with group-wide Group Human Resources functions. Contribute to special projects; as well as track, analyze, and report on units undertakings.

Location: Kingston

Supports the efficient delivery of HR functions and initiatives in alignment with the Company’s strategic objectives

  • Provide guidance and support to Employees on HR matters to foster effective communication and maintain a transparent working environment.
  • Ensure compliance of all employee benefits, to include group life and group health as is required
  • Assist the recruitment team in new employee orientation, onboarding, and employee training programs.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of leave processes (i.e.: administration tracking)  
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops and training sessions relating to HR projects
  • Liaise with the Training Department on training needs to include initial and recurrent training for all staff.  
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form  
  • Maintain accurate and updated personnel records, certifications, and HR databases.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the HR function

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3-4 years experience in a medium size organization; 1-2 years in an HR support role preferred.

Education, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • A degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or equivalent qualification
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritize
  • Strong communication skills (oral/written)  
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Knowledge of the Human Resource function
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of an HRMS would be an asset
  • Fluent in the English Language (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of document management
  • Excellent attitude to client service and teamwork.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrable persuasiveness, empathy and tact.
  • Basic knowledge of Human Resources Operations.
  • Good time management and human relations skills.
  • Ability to type.
  • Ability to work under pressure
