The Human Resource Trainee is primarily responsible for handling the day-to-day internal HR functions within the company as well as providing support to the external HR services area as needed.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and assist with employee recruitment, hiring, orientation and training and ensures completion of all appropriate paperwork for new employees.
  • Assist with the coordination and conduct of formal staff performance appraisals together with department managers for all employees
  • Coordinate and participate in completion of terminations and exit interviews where necessary.
  • Establish and maintain employee records and relevant reports.
  • Handle the administration of employee benefits (medical insurance)
  • Prepare and organize monthly staff meetings.
  • Provide basic marketing and branding support as necessary e.g. Social Media management, external events, publications etc.
  • Establishes good working relationships with all staff.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures and benefits.
  • Assist with developing, implementing and updating HR policies, procedures and forms.
  • Stays current with laws and regulations affecting HR issues, employment practices or trends and recommend new or revised policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Any other duties as required.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary level education in business or relevant qualification would be an asset.
  • Knowledgeable about letter writing, office etiquette, procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Relations would be an asset.
  • 1– 2 years’ related experience, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
