The Hostess is the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in creating a welcoming, organized & efficient dining experience. The Hostess is responsible for greeting guests, managing seating flow, coordinating with supporting smooth back & front-of-house operations during service.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
• Greet all guests promptly, warmly, and professionally
• Manage waitlists and seating to maximize table turnover while maintaining guest comfort
• Communicate estimated wait times accurately
• Address basic guest inquiries and escalate issues to the supervisor or manager as needed
Floor & Team Coordination
• Coordinate seating flow with servers and bartenders to ensure balanced sections and efficient service
• Communicate guest volume and pacing to the kitchen team to support smooth food execution
• Assist in directing servers during peak periods to maintain service standards
• Support teamwork between front-of-house and back-of-house staff
Operational Support
• Monitor dining room cleanliness, table readiness, and overall presentation
• Assist with light side work such as menu organization, sanitation of host stand, and guest areas
• Ensure menus, utensils, and service stations are stocked and presentable
• Follow opening and closing host stand procedures
Compliance & Standards
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Uphold company service standards and brand values
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Professional, friendly, and guest-focused attitude
• Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and service teams
• Basic problem-solving skills and sound judgment
Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
• Availability to work flexible hours, especially when flights are delayed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Reporting Structure
• Reports to: Airport Dining Manager / Supervisor / Team Leader
• Works closely with: Servers, Cooks, Bartenders, Janitors
