The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance work on heavy equipment and vehicles to ensure the highest possible run-time for company equipment.

HEAVY DUTY TECHNICIAN

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and scheduled inspections on all mobile equipment using the HVI software.
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on all mobile heavy equipment (Rubber wheel, Track type and Trucks).
  • Ensure to always follow equipment manufacturer safe work guide and policy.
  • Use HVI software to receive, populate and close work orders/requests. 
  • Action received work orders.
  • Use handheld devices (scan tools) and laptops to carry out diagnostic checks on all mobile heavy equipment.
  • Carry out basic move and test procedure on all mobile heavy equipment to ensure repairs are done correctly.
  • Carry out routine break down repairs.
  • Carry out tyre change on rubber wheel equipment.
  • Exercise diligent care to ensure that the appropriate tools, machinery and equipment are used to carry out job duties, such as using jacks/machines/equipment for heavy lifting, carrying items, cutting, etc. 
  • Utilize the appropriate safety gears when carrying out job duties.
  • Travel to various job sites to provide mechanical support.
  • Provide mentoring and training for apprentice mechanics and mechanic helpers.
  • Provide mechanical support for the Concrete Batching Plant whenever the need arises.
  • Any other related duty that may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Leaving Certificate
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar position
  • Technical knowledge of heavy duty vehicles and its repair/maintenance
