Our client is seeking a visionary finance executive, eager to drive organisational growth and transformation. The Head of Finance should be an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at providing innovative, forward-thinking solutions to complex financial challenges.  As a strategic partner to the executive team, the Head of Finance will play a pivotal role in shaping the finance function, strengthening the organisation’s risk management operations and supporting the organisation’s long-term success.

The Role 

The holder of role shapes financial strategy, oversees daily operations, maintains regulatory compliance, leads the finance team, and provides guidance to the Board and Executive Management Team on growth and risk matters. The position is responsible for optimizing investments, enhancing profitability, and ensuring financial stability within the organisation.  Core responsibilities include forecasting, managing risks, controlling costs, developing financial models, development and policies and procedures to enhance processes and maintaining strong financial controls and reporting through the following actions:  

  • Provide forward-thinking strategic direction for the finance function, aligning financial goals with the organisation’s overall mission and vision.
  • Financial management, overseeing all financial activities including cash flow management, budgeting, liquidity risk assessment and financial forecasting.
  • Develop clear parameters around investment decisions and financial planning to mitigate risks and drive sustainable growth.
  • Lead and manage the finance department, ensuring robust financial controls and compliance with international best practices, local regulations and procurement parameters.
  • Develop and implement strategic financial plans to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to Executive Management, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulations.
  • Deliver sound financial advisory services to executive leadership, business units, and the Board on financial planning, risk management, and investment opportunities enabling data-driven decision making and sustainable growth.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and reporting processes using adequate monitoring mechanisms to track performance.
  • Ensure robust risk management strategies, compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintenance of internal controls.
  • Champion the adoption of new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to drive operational efficiency, agility, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, investors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide strategic leadership in collaborating with the Executive Management Team to align financial strategies with broader business objectives whilst cultivating a strong, self-sufficient talent pipeline.
  • Inspire and mentor a high-performing finance team, cultivating a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional growth.

Preferred Profile 

  • Advanced Degree in Economics, Finance, Analysis, Risk Management or related field alongside professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or CFA is required. 
  • Specialist knowledge, and training in liquidity risk management, financial forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management.  
  • At least 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with 3+ years in a senior leadership role within financial services. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial and procurement regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. 
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, budgeting, and team leadership.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, strategic thinking, financial modeling, interpersonal, and communication skills. 
  • Understanding of financial markets, accounting principles, risk management, and relevant regulatory frameworks. 
  • Exceptional computer skills, knowledge of analytical tools as well as project management and decision-making skills with a reputation for getting things done.
