A leading company in the roofing and construction industry is seeking a competent and motivated Human Resource Officer to join our team.

Job Summary

The Human Resource Officer will support the delivery of HR functions across the company, including recruitment, employee records management, benefits administration, payroll support, and ensuring compliance with labor laws, safety requirements, and company policies. Proficiency in the HR+ system for timekeeping, payroll input, and employee data management is essential.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HR+ system.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and leave management.
  • Assist in recruitment and selection: posting vacancies, conducting interviews and reference checks.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation of new employees, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Administer staff benefits (group health and life insurance) and address related queries.
  • Provide payroll support by preparing and submitting inputs via HR+.
  • Support employee performance management (appraisals, probation, confirmations).
  • Prepare HR reports and analytics to support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with Jamaican labor laws, workplace safety standards, and HR policies.
  • Contribute to employee engagement and HR-related projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ HR experience (construction/industrial sector experience is an asset).
  • Proficiency in the HR+ system is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Jamaican labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
