The incumbent is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, analysing work environments & designing programs & procedures to control/ eliminate accidents & incidents & enforces adherence to laws & regulations governing the health & safety of individuals.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Conducts companywide HSSE awareness training of all personnel on the importance of safe work practices and behaviors via the behavior base initiatives of START Cards, Tool Box Meetings and Job Safety Analysis
  • ("JSAs"), Risk Assessments and ensures documentation is completed when required
  • Investigates accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future. Supports with field inspection programs and schedules with the required stakeholders (Employees, Supervisor & Contractor) to ensure that the conditions of safe work procedures (Job Safety Analysis (JSAs, Risk Assessment (RAs) and Permit to Work ("PTW"), etc.) are being adhered to as well as findings being documented
  • Recommends measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
  • Inspects and evaluates workplace environment, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
  • Conducts testing of gases, vapours etc. to determine toxicity levels
  • Investigates the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance
  • Conducts safety training on all HSSE related matters
  • Investigates health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations
  • Collaborates with relevant personnel to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment
  • Provides new employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations. Maintains or updates emergency response plans or procedures

Inspects specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies
