Group Human Resource Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Group Human Resource Manager will provide strategic and operational HR leadership for a growing group of car wash and automotive service companies under Coops Corporation Limited Company. This position oversees HR functions across multiple branches and business units, ensuring consistency in policies, practices, and performance standards. The role includes managing recruitment and placement, employee relations, employee engagement, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, training and development, retention, separation and compliance with labour laws in Trinidad and Tobago. A key component of the role is working closely with the CEO—an entrepreneurial and dynamic leader—to align HR strategy with business growth, while supporting a culturally diverse workforce.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides strategic HR leadership and oversight across all branches and business units within the Group.
  • Develops and implements HR policies, systems, and procedures that align with the Group’s business objectives.
  • Advises and supports the CEO and management team on organizational development, staffing, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Standardizes HR policies, employee handbooks, and performance standards across the Group.
  • Leads recruitment and selection processes for the Group entities to attract and retain qualified talent.
  • Develops job descriptions, conduct competency-based interviews, and manage onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Oversees payroll coordination, attendance management, and leave administration in collaboration with branch HR or administrative officers.
  • Liaises with the finance team and/or team-party vendor to complete the on-time processing of payroll and the administration of other monetary benefits.
  • Mediates and resolves conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary issues in line with company policy and labour laws.
  • Assesses training needs and coordinate group-wide learning opportunities, including customer service, language, technical, and leadership development.
  • Supports and coaches branch managers in employee relations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement.
  • Manages the Group’s performance management system and support the rollout of KPIs across all branches
  • Ensures compliance with all labour laws of Trinidad and Tobago, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Retrenchment and Severance Benefits Act.
  • Produces and analyze HR metrics via reports, presentations etc., to senior leadership within the organization to support the decision-making process.
  • Ensures up-to-date maintenance of accurate employee records (physical and electronic files [HRIS]).
  • Leads culture enhancement, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives within the organization.
  • Manages the overall HR staff and function and the associated administrative duties.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM Certification at the Senior Certified Professional level (SHRM-SCP) or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive HR experience with 5+ years managing Human Resources at a C-suite/senior level.
  • Strong understanding of Trinidad and Tobago labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing a multicultural or bilingual workforce is essential.
  • Experience in multi-site or group-level HR management preferred.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all organizational levels, especially with entrepreneurial leaders.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing HR systems, policies and procedures.

   

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Leadership, organizational, and change management skills across multiple sites.
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational execution capabilities
  • Experience managing and inspiring culturally diverse teams.
  • Excellent communicator – in writing and verbally and Bilingual (English and Spanish) – essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiations and conflict resolution skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust with a results-driven CEO.
  • Ability to standardize and streamline HR systems and processes across the Group.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, HR software systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other advance HR technologies.
  • Management of the HR function for a service/quick-service industry an asset.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Full-time, Monday to Saturday (based on operational needs).
  • Occasional travel between branches or business units.
  • Dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring flexibility, initiative, and a hands-on leadership approach.
