PURPOSE OF JOB 

  • Being part of the 2 nd Line of Defence, to support the organisation in complying with corporate governance, risk management, legislative and regulatory requirements and best practice. 
  • To assist the company's Group in accomplishing its objectives of being fully compliant with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • To provide reasonable assurance that the Company’s Compliance Programme, Policies and Procedures are consistent with legal and regulatory requirements and operating as designed.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Governance and Risk Management

1.) Assist in Facilitating implementation and maintenance of best practise and standards on: 
  • Information Technology and Cyber security 
  • ESG – Environment, Social, and Governance 
  • Governance, Risk Management and Compliance. 
2.) As part of the second line of defence, contribute to the maintenance of the company's Group risk management function. 
This will include: 
  • the ongoing strengthening of staff skills. 
  • enhancements to risk management systems, policies, processes, quantitative models, and reports as necessary. 
  • to assist the CGRCO in ensuring that the Company's Group risk management capabilities are sufficiently robust and effective to fully support its strategic objectives and all its risk-taking activities. Compliance 
1.) Fintech: 
  • Assist the CGRCO in ensuring the necessary Compliance Programme controls are in place. 
  • Monitor compliance with policies by performing regular and comprehensive compliance testing, and reporting to Senior Management, and the CGRCO on compliance matters.
2.) Fuel Operations: 
  • Perform periodic compliance checks designed to monitor and detect areas of non-compliance with the Petroleum Act, Wholesale and Retail Marketing licenses and other relevant legislation. 
  • Perform periodic compliance checks designed to monitor and detect noncompliance with established policies and procedures aimed at minimising shrink. 
3.) Convenience Stores: 
  • Perform periodic compliance checks designed to monitor and detect noncompliance with established policies and procedures aimed at minimising shrink. 
4.) Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) 
  • Perform periodic compliance checks designed to monitor and detect areas of non-compliance in accordance with the OSH Act and/or other relevant legislation. 
  • Monitor compliance with legislation and regulations by performing regular and comprehensive compliance testing, and reporting to Senior Management, and if necessary, the Board or a committee of the Board, on non-compliance with the OSH Act . 
5.) HSE Responsibilities 
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to the HSSE philosophy and provide the resources and support to enable the translation of that philosophy into tangible actions. 
  • Monitor results of audits and action plans arising from their departments, to ensure problem areas are identified and remedied. 
  • Follow up of incident/incident investigations and subsequent recommendations in their departments. 
  • Reviews HSSE performance periodically. These reviews should include a discussion of the overall company and individual performance. 
  • Recommend to the Chief Executive Officer, after consultation with the HSSEA Manager, improvements, or changes in HSSE practices and to recommend priorities. 
  • Ensure Team Leaders interpret and understand the procedures of the Integrated Management System and that they are implemented effectively. 
  • Work with technical staff and HSSE personnel in reviewing, inspecting and improving work systems with the objective of improving HSSE performance. 
  • Monitor the work of Team Leaders and stimulate their interest and involvement in HSSE. 
  • Review reports and statistics and investigate adverse results prior to initiating corrective action. 
  • Work with the HSSEA Manager and employees to establish annual HSSE objectives for the Business Plan. 
  • Coordinate accident/incident investigations. 
  • Ensure HSSE objectives of each manager be reviewed in conjunction with reviewing and updating the business plan. 
ATTRIBUTES AND FUNCTIONAL SKILLS 
  • Knowledge of requisite laws, regulations, national and international standards, and business principles as they relate to the company. 
  • Strong research, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as a high emotional intelligence quotient. 
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, presentation and active listening skills. 
  • Must have good planning and time management/prioritization skills. 
  • Must be able to multi-task with excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills. 
  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment. 
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills. 
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
  • Certification in Internal Auditing 
  • Certification in AML/CFT prevention and detection. 
  • Certifications in Quality Management Systems 
  • A minimum of (5) years’ experience in the field of compliance, risk management, audit, or similar position. 
  • In-depth knowledge of the AML/CFT legislative and regulatory requirements.
