A long-established, values-driven children’s residential home is seeking to appoint a General Manager (GM) to provide overall leadership, governance oversight, and strategic direction for the organisation.

This is a senior stewardship role focused on governance, organisational leadership, and sustainability. This position is offered as a three (3) year contract.

JOB SUMMARY

The GM is responsible for the efficient and effective daily management and operations of a Children’s Home. This includes implementing all policies and programmes related to child development, care, and protection, as well as managing human resources, finance, health and safety, and family and community relations.  Additionally, the General Manager will oversee the overall governance of the Home to ensure that quality assurance and care standards are met.

  • Provide financial oversight, including budgeting, financial reporting, and collaboration with the Board on fundraising and sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Home, fostering positive relationships with donors, community partners, service providers, and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least five years’ senior supervisory experience within a residential childcare, not-for-profit, or comparable human services environment.
  • Experience working in a residential childcare setting would be an asset.
    • Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, compassion, and professionalism.
