The General Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Kitchen and Sanitation departments. Responsibilities include food preparation, cleaning and sanitising equipment, and maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards. Ability to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks.

We are currently seeking General Assistants to join our dynamic team in both Kitchen and Sanitation departments. The ideal candidates will be reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to upholding quality and hygiene standards.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK SHIFT

Key Duties & Responsibilities (Sanitation):

  • Sort incoming equipment by type.
  • Prepare dishwasher by ensuring maintenance checks and correct chemical levels.
  • Soak and sanitize equipment as required.
  • Prepare trolleys and racks for clean equipment.
  • Handle and transport equipment carefully to avoid breakage.
  • Discard damaged or unusable equipment as directed.
  • Participate in monthly stock count exercises.
  • Adhere to all HSSE, Quality, HACCP, and Food Safety standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities (Kitchen):

  • Assemble meals and prepare vegetables per client specifications and hygiene standards.
  • Wash, sanitize, and inspect vegetables and raw materials.
  • Label, package, and store items accurately.
  • Prepare raw/cooked food components per meal standards and specifications.
  • Retrieve and return containers/equipment from Sanitation and Equipment departments.
  • Maintain sanitation and hygiene practices during food prep and storage.
  • Complete temperature logs accurately and on time.
  • Ensure timely completion, labeling, and proper storage of meals.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in monthly stock counts.

Additional Responsibilities (Both Roles):

  • Minimise waste and record all disposals.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and follow policies.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with all safety and quality procedures and regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • CXC O’Level Certificate with Grades I or II in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a team-based environment.
  • For Kitchen Assistants: at least one (1) year experience in the food service industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Police certificate of character required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to work shift
