Financial Accountant

Position: Financial Accountant

Salary: TTD $15,000.00 negotiable 

Employment Type: Contract (6 months) / Full-time

Location: Port of Spain

Position Summary

Assists in managing and executing all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, regulatory reporting, and record keeping within the Finance Department. Represents the company by liaising with external and internal stakeholders including auditors, regulators, and other group organizations.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Deliver prompt, professional, and courteous customer service in accordance with policies.
  2. Prepare monthly board reports ensuring accurate transaction accounting and timely reconciliations.
  3. Analyze actual expenses vs. budget, provide variance explanations, and prepare similar analyses for income and balance sheet items.
  4. Assist with account consolidations.
  5. Maintain and reconcile fixed assets, intangibles, and right-of-use assets; calculate monthly depreciation.
  6. Prepare statutory reports.
  7. Compile audit schedules and financial statements for all audit stages.
  8. Support development of financial models to improve departmental efficiency.
  9. Assist with annual budget preparation.
  10. Perform regular checks of cash and petty cash floats, as needed.
  11. Execute additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager or CFO.

Education & Training Requirements

  • Education & Qualifications: ACCA qualified or a related field.
  • Training:
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
    • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel
    • Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
    • Managerial or supervisory experience is an asset
    • Insurance industry experience is an asset
