Job Title

Field Force Technician

 

 

Primary objective of the job: 

The Field Force Technician is responsible for network development and maintenance in the field for the organization. The individual works with the technical team and the associated vendors to install, configure, maintain and fix all LAN/WAN and other equipment issues, including but not limited to cell sites Access Network (GSM, WCDMA, LTE), microwave links (Ceragon and ZTE Microwave), RAD equipment, ECI/Ribbon Nodes, and Power Equipment (Generator, ATS, UPS & Inverter) to ensure efficient network functionality according to Group SLAs.

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-installation site surveys to ensure all is in place for actual installations
  • Installation of hardware and software to support mobile network functionality
  • Provide timely and accurate reports as per business requirements.
  • Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks.
  • Ensure that cell-site visits are conducted regularly on all islands
  • Test site and switch generators according to schedule to ensure functionality and availability of fuel.
  • Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of switch site Headend UPS, batteries and Inverter nodes.
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of all microwave links.
  • Diagnose errors or Technical problems and determine proper solutions.
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports
  • Document processes.
  • Operate vehicle in a safe manner and use filed automation systems.
  • Follow all company’s field procedures and protocols.
  • Cooperate with the technical team and share information across the organization.
  • Manage the integration of new GSM/WCDMA/LTE/5G Sites
  • Manage the maintenance of accurate records of all changes
  • Monitor all signaling links and performance KPIs to prevent losses on all nodes to ensure 99.99% availability.

 

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • At minimum as Associates Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Field.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or Equivalent is preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Field Technician or a similar role
  • Experience in Transmission systems (Microwave)
  • Experience with Power systems (Generators, ATS, UPS)
  • Design, implementation, and operational knowledge of networks
  • 3-5 years’ Rigging experience
  • Tower, safety, Rescue, and Rigging Certification.

 

 

Functional Skills:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems
  • Excellent Time Management Skills
  • Working knowledge of GSM/WCDMA/LTE
  • Working knowledge of Generators/ATS/UPS/Power
  • Experience with microwave transmission
  • Experience with fiber/Ethernet/E1/T1 and DDF DSX
  • Rigging/Climbing Towers and Monopoles.
  • General understanding of IP/IT
  •  Generic Telecommunications training
