The Facilities Technician reports to the HSSE Manager and is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of the Company’s facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.

JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician reports to the HSSE Manager and is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of the Company’s facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. The role supports the delivery of a safe, functional, and well-maintained working environment across office and field locations.  The Facilities Technician works closely with the HSSE & Corporate Shared Services Support Teams to ensure compliance with safety standards, preventative maintenance schedules, and operational requirements, while supporting business continuity and service excellence.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver service excellence daily in keeping with Amplia Communications’ Customer Service Philosophy.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general infrastructure.
  • Execute preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Diagnose faults and perform corrective maintenance in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are used safely and maintained in good condition.
  • Assist with office setups, moves, and space reconfigurations.
  • Support the maintenance of utilities and services including power, water, and backup systems.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining building security systems and access controls.
  • Provide support for emergency response activities and business continuity initiatives.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Track and report usage levels and reorder requirements.
  • Assist with asset tagging, tracking, and maintenance records.
  • Provide support to Facilities and Corporate Shared Services functions as required.
  • Assist with logistical support for site visits, inspections, and projects.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and service tickets within agreed timelines.
  • Update and maintain records of work completed, materials used, and outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed to required standards.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the environmental aspects of HSSE, including audits and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide support with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Loss Control initiatives, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, HSE teams, and assigned Shared Services functions to support organizational objectives.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable legislation, codes of practice, and industry developments.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in Electrical Installation or a related technical field.
  • Must be the holder of a Wireman’s License issued by the Government Electrical Inspectorate
  • Certification in Facilities Management (Building Maintenance) will be an asset.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in facilities maintenance, building services, or a similar role.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Must have a valid Trinidad and Tobago Driver’s License and vehicle in good working condition.
  • Strong written, administrative, and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound analytical, organizational, problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
