Duties and Responsibilities
The Electrical / Project Engineer must be proficient in multi-platform PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, B&R, LS, Fatek), HMI configuration (Beijer, AB PanelView, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Proface, Omron), VFD commissioning and troubleshooting (Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Lenze, Delta, Parker, Rexroth), servo systems (Mitsubishi Melservo), and industrial networking protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP). Strong AC/DC troubleshooting skills and familiarity with vendor-specific software environments (Studio5000, RSLogix500, TIA Portal, GX Works, FactoryTalk, IndraWorks, FR Configurator, MR Configurator) are essential.
The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical / Project Engineer include but is not exclusive to the following:
- Support ongoing plant engineering and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead or support future capital expenditure and plant improvement projects
- Maintain and update as-built drawings and technical documentation
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to operations and maintenance teams
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and safe operation of plant equipment and utilities
- Lead preventative and corrective maintenance activities, including PM scheduling and execution
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and control system failures using structured root-cause analysis
- Manage critical spares, maintenance tools, and asset registers to minimize downtime risk
- Monitor maintenance KPIs (e.g., MTTR, MTBF, downtime) and drive improvement actions
- Plan and coordinate plant shutdowns, maintenance windows, and engineering works
- Support plant optimization initiatives and recommend equipment upgrades based on performance data
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and engineering standards
- Coordinate equipment positioning, utilities, and infrastructure requirements
- Liaise with OEMs, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
- Support installation, commissioning, and start-up activities
- Monitor project progress and assist in resolving technical issues
- Maintain operational continuity across shifts and evolving plant systems
Education and Experience
Essential
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role
- Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
- Strong CAD capability (AutoCAD preferred)
- Practical understanding of industrial machinery and factory services
- Experience working within live manufacturing environments
- Ability to work on-site and manage multiple contractors and stakeholders
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
Desirable
Candidate should have a solid foundation in several of the following:
- Multi-platform PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi preferred)
- HMI configuration and support across common platforms
- Experience with VFDs including commissioning and fault finding
- Exposure to servo systems and motion control (advantageous)
- Understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g. Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus)
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills (AC/DC systems)
- Familiarity with relevant automation software environments
- Experience working on site-based engineering or machinery installation projects
- Project management or commissioning experience
