Facilities AC & R Maintenance Specialist

The Facilities AC & R Maintenance Specialist is responsible for providing specialised preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation as it relates to all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems within the company's facilities.

• Ensure that there is scheduled preventative maintenance on all AC and refrigeration units, including cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting electrical components, and lubricating moving parts.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with HVAC/R systems, including identifying problems with compressors, motors, thermostats, and control systems.
• Execute repairs and replace faulty components, such as valves, switches, motors, and fans.
• Install new HVAC/R systems and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair work, and parts used.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls in a timely manner, which may include being on-call during evenings or weekends.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to coordinate work on facilities-wide projects.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Technical certification in HVAC/R, refrigeration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC/R systems.
• Detailed knowledge of various AC systems, including split systems, packaged units, chillers, and walk-in refrigerators.
• Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment (e.g., multi-meters, pressure gauges).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Working Conditions:

• The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions.
• Physical demands include but are not limited to lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces.
• The position requires on-call availability and working outside of standard business hours to address emergencies.
