This includes managing a team of field sales representatives, developing and executing regional sales strategies, and fostering strong relationships with distributors and end-users. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, enhancing market penetrating, and ensuring consistent customer satisfaction.
Job Purpose:
Operating in a highly competitive and technical environment, the Field Sales Manager plays a key role in linking the company’s product offerings with the practical needs of clients in sectors such as automotive repair, manufacturing, and heavy machinery. The role involves regular travel to customer sites, understanding technical specifications, responding to market trends, and managing distributor/channel partner relationships. Success in this role requires deep product knowledge, hands-on leadership, and the ability to support both commercial negotiations and technical consultations. The Field Sales Manager must also ensure the sales team is well-equipped with product training, market insights, and customer service best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Management of the Field Sales Division and Field Sales Supervisors/Associates (includes on-site and off-site sales activities)
Responsible for the individual performance and development of the Field Sales Team.
Set Key Performance Indicators to monitor performance of the Field Sales Team.
Report and liaise with the Commercial Manager in developing SOPs for the Field Sales Division and ensure consistency is achieved in overall sales operations for the company.
Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully maintaining and developing Field Sales. Develop new accounts through face to face and telephone contact with current and prospective customers.
Establish, develop, and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers on-site and off-site.
Research sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential.
Develop clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
Build a sales framework and coordinate sales efforts with various internal departments (Customer Service, Marketing, Sales Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.).
Build and maintain strong relationship with management and staff; Manage an ongoing sales pipeline; provide regular updates to relevant internal stakeholders of field findings, sales updates, and reports.
Work closely with the on-site sales management and sales team to ensure consistency in sales processes and messaging to internal and external stakeholder.
Assist with coordination of sales team training to ensure that customers are always provided with expert knowledge and a high level of professionalism in line with company’s mission; Conduct research to guarantee the customer is always offered the ‘right part for the right price’.
Supply management with Sales Reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
Manage recruiting, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of Field Sales Associates.
Conduct and participate in internal and external sales meetings; Represent the company at various meetings and events (on & off-site) to promote the diverse product lines.
Manage all Field sales inquiries and assist, as needed, with general sales inquiries.
Initiate and coordinate the development of Action Plans to penetrate new markets and/or expand existing ones based on the various lines of business.
Communicate, liaise, and coordinate with all internal stakeholders on how to maintain exceptional customer relationships while eliminating risk for the company.
Keeps abreast of market shifts and trends in sales and related business functions to enhance the effectiveness and growth of the company.
Perform special projects and any other tasks as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
Tertiary level qualification or other acceptable credentials
5+ years of field sales experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory/management role
Experience in auto parts, lubricants, or industrial products is highly advantageous
Proven track record in a similar capacity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
