General Description of the Role
The Facilities Technician will oversee systems which include heating, lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, plumbing, water purification, air filtering, and electrical systems. The Facilities Technician performs preventative maintenance on equipment and troubleshoots problems. He will assist in ensuring that utilities (electricity, water, compressed air, etc.) are provided for the timely and effective operation of the areas of responsibility and in accordance with the company policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
• Ensure that the required utilities (electricity, water, compressed air, etc.) are provided on
time while adhering to company policies and standards.
• Monitor and report on utility operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load
requirements and detect malfunctions.
• Performs a wide variety of minor general building maintenance repairs such as the immediate correction of leaking pipes and malfunctioning electrical fixtures
• Conducts minor adjustment to air conditioning as directed by service provider supplier
• Assist with the relocation of and coordination of furniture requirements for facilities
• Direct and coordinate contractors engaged in routine operations and maintenance activities.
• Update the department on the most recent quality and safety standards best practice.
• Assist in the development of documentation for project proposals ensuring that the quality and safety elements are built in from the beginning.
• Ensure that utilities are properly maintained at all locations within the company such as generators, air conditioning units etc.
• Ensure all utility records are properly maintained, and checks are carried out in a timely
manner.
• Assist with the creation and issue of required work orders based on maintenance schedule, requests or notifications.
• Ensures that all work orders are properly completed and performs analysis for repairs in
updating the equipment records.
• Interfaces with departments to provide information and solution relating to repairs and
maintenance.
Experience Required
• Two (2) years working experience in a similar or related role
Education / Professional Qualifications
• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification
• HEART NCTVET/equivalent certificates in General Building/Facilities Maintenance/Repairs
