Executive Manager – Marketing

Main Purpose of Job:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Manager – Marketing provides strategic leadership and vision for the Group’s marketing and brand portfolio. The role is accountable for defining and steering the overarching brand architecture, marketing direction, and innovation agenda to strengthen the competitive position of Angostura.

As the head of the marketing function, the Executive Manager ensures that all brand initiatives are strategically aligned with corporate priorities, driving sustainable growth, market leadership, and long-term brand equity. The incumbent champions marketing excellence and innovation, guiding the team in building meaningful consumer connections, enhancing brand value, and safeguarding the integrity of the Angostura portfolio.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Brand Portfolio Management

  • Lead the Group’s brand and marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate vision, financial targets, and growth priorities.
  • Define the brand architecture and positioning framework for Angostura and all sub-brands, ensuring clarity, distinctiveness, and competitive advantage.
  • Translate corporate strategy into actionable marketing objectives, balancing short-term performance with long-term brand equity building.
  • Oversee the strategic planning process for the marketing division, setting direction for domestic brand initiatives.
  • Assess market trends, consumer insights, and category developments to shape brand strategies and identify growth opportunities.

Innovation, Product Development & Business Growth

  • Champion the innovation pipeline across the value chain, from concept ideation to commercial launch, ensuring consumer relevance and business impact.
  • Oversee new product development, packaging design evolution, and portfolio optimization to maintain brand competitiveness and profitability.
  • Partner with R&D, Operations, and Commercial divisions to ensure innovation initiatives are commercially viable, scalable, and aligned with brand positioning.
  • Embed a culture of creativity and data-driven decision-making within the marketing team.

Integrated Marketing Communications & Market Expansion

  • Direct the development and execution of a unified marketing communications strategy for the House of Angostura and all associated brands across local and regional markets.
  • Oversee the media strategy and brand storytelling to ensure consistent messaging and impactful presence across digital, traditional, and experiential platforms.
  • Drive consumer engagement and brand advocacy through high-impact campaigns and partnerships that elevate Angostura’s visibility and desirability worldwide.

Financial & Performance Governance

  • Oversee the Group’s total marketing investment, ensuring optimal allocation of resources, measurable ROI, and adherence to budgetary discipline.
  • Evaluate marketing performance metrics, ensuring decisions are data-led and outcomes are benchmarked against global standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on marketing productivity, operational efficiency, and strategic sourcing of agency partners.

Leadership, Capability Development & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the marketing leadership team, fostering a high-performance, innovative, and accountable culture.
  • Build organizational marketing capability through structured development, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise-wide strategy and decision-making.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all marketing practices comply with internal governance policies, corporate social responsibility principles, and applicable legal and regulatory standards.
  • Represent Angostura in key industry, trade, and community forums to strengthen brand reputation and stakeholder relationships.

  • Achievement of marketing and brand portfolio objectives aligned with corporate strategy.
  • Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI) and contribution to overall business profitability.
  • Optimization of marketing budget allocation and efficiency across brands and channels.
  • Growth in market share, revenue, and brand equity value within key categories.

Brand Leadership & Innovation

  • Strength of brand positioning and differentiation in core and emerging markets.
  • Successful delivery of innovation and new product development milestones, contributing to portfolio renewal and growth.
  • Impact of integrated marketing communications on consumer perception and engagement.
  • Effectiveness of brand governance and consistency across all platforms and touchpoints.

Organizational & Leadership Impact

  • Marketing team capability and leadership development, succession readiness, and employee engagement.
  • Cross-functional alignment and collaboration with Commercial, Export, and Operations divisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and performance within the marketing function.

Stakeholder & Corporate Impact

  • Strengthened corporate reputation and stakeholder relationships through marketing and public engagement.
  • Adherence to corporate governance, risk, and compliance standards.
  • Effective representation of Angostura’s brand identity and values across all external engagements.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Master’s Degree in Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline is required.
  • Extensive senior management experience (minimum 12–15 years) with progressive responsibility in marketing, brand leadership, or strategic business roles.
  • Proven experience in leading complex marketing functions within the FMCG, beverage, or consumer goods industries.
  • Experience in distillation, brewing, or related sectors would be considered a distinct asset.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, innovation management, and brand portfolio growth at a corporate level.

 

Required knowledge/skills/abilities:

  • Proven success in developing and executing enterprise-wide marketing and brand strategies that deliver measurable business growth.
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics, consumer behavior, and competitive strategy within local and regional markets.
  • Strong proficiency in brand portfolio management, including positioning, architecture, and lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in innovation management, product development, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Expert knowledge of marketing communications, including digital transformation and integrated campaign strategy.
  • Advanced financial and commercial acumen, with experience in strategic budgeting, P&L oversight, and ROI-driven investment decisions.
  • Exceptional ability to translate business strategy into actionable marketing direction and lead cross-functional alignment.
  • Inspirational leadership style with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong influencing skills and executive presence, with the ability to partner effectively with the CEO, Board, and other senior leaders.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, and decision-making abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate vision and motivate diverse stakeholders.
  • Integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and marketing analytics tools.
