JOB SUMMARY

The Sales & Marketing Manager will be the overall coordination, functional management and leadership of all sales activities. It involves planning and directing sales activities to maximize sales volumes and profits from all segments of the market. This role also involves planning and developing marketing strategies to achieve maximum sales profitability and market growth in both the retail and food service market.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively monitors the sales representatives to ensure that they are at work and to achieve their targets. This involves following up and analysing their sales logs and visiting their customers.
  • Manages the accounts receivables function of each sales representative to ensure that they are collecting payments effectively. This involves resolving account issues, returns, credit notes, unpaid balances etc.
  • Liaises with the Credit Control Committee to establish terms and limits for new and existing customers.
  • Develops and implements marketing plans and liaises with foreign suppliers.
  • Increases market growth and development by sourcing new products and introducing it into the market.
  • Establishes monthly and annual sales targets/performance goals for sales representatives, analysing results when targets are not achieved.
  • Ensure the implementation of training and development initiatives for sales representatives and merchandisers to enhance product knowledge and sales techniques.
  • Liaises with the Purchasing Department for information regarding products that are fast movers vs. those that are phasing out or stagnant.
  • Effectively monitors and makes the necessary adjustments to the rosters of the merchandisers to ensure that the stores are properly maintained and well displayed.
  • Identifies new customers in the retail and food service market and initiates strategies to stimulate existing and dormant accounts.
  • Sells products by establishing contact and developing relationships with customers on an on-going basis. This would involve maintaining relationships with clients by providing support, information and guidance, researching and recommending new business opportunities, recommending profit and service improvements.
  • Identifies pricing and product improvements or new products by remaining current of industry trends, market activities and competitors.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analysing and summarizing information- monthly.
  • Oversees the Telesales Department to ensure quality service and growth strategies are maintained.
  • Performs any other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc. or B.A. in Marketing.
  • An MBA in Marketing will be considered an asset.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in a food service or food distribution company in a similar capacity.
  • Must be competent in Microsoft Excel and Word.
