The Estimator/ Coordinator is responsible for quantifying materials based on drawings and site information. The preparation and delivery of quotes, tenders and materials to issue to jobs. Most work activity occurring indoors in a controlled environment.

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Communicate with other departments, Engineers, Architects, Owners, Contractors, Sub-contractors, Estimating Manager and Project managers to discuss and formulate estimate costs, quantity items and areas.  Resolve issues and/or obtain/pass on technical info as required.
  • Identify, analyse and assess any cost/quantity factors such as time, material, labour and other related expenses from blueprints, drawings, technical documents and/or info passed on by customers, Project managers and Sales personnel in preparation of a sales quote.
  • Prepare and submit Cost Analysis reports for each estimated job with relevant recommendations.
  • Prepare quotes, estimates, tenders and supporting documents based on cost and quantities derived on a timely and efficient manner using any computer software where necessary.
  • Review quotes prepared by Sales representatives and material quantities for sold jobs prepared by Project Supervisors where required.
  • Prepare and procure quantified materials on site drawings, working documents, material requisition list required for projects using any computer software such as AutoCAD, Topview etc.
  • Monitor and Control cost factors such as materials, labour and other related expenses for the duration of any project.
  • Prepare all contract documentation as per company policies and procedures review subsequent charges proposed and approved by customers, management, project supervisors and or/sub-contractors.
  • Process all requisitions and procure all materials and supplies required for the duration of any job.
  • Continuously compare contract documentation to dollar amounts entered into the accounting system and resolves any deviation
  • Work with customers, operations and field personnel to create a seamless flow of information.
  • Organise, prepare and coordinate billing documents, ensuring all contract activities are billed and no activity is left unbilled and is directed to accounts department.
  • Maintain an up-to-date filing system in relation to your duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.

INTERNAL CRITERIA FOR CRITICAL POSITION 
  • Certificate in Technical Drawing or Auto Cad
  • Five (5) CXC O’ levels including Mathematics, English, Accounts and Technical Drawing
  • Certificate in Microsoft Office.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in technical drawing preferably in the construction industry or roofing.
