Job Title: Environmental Manager (responsible for managing Environmental Management Plans and Waste Management Plans across projects).

You will be working with a special international group specializing in architectual design and construction managament- URCOISA.

Job Mission

The Environmental Plan Manager in construction ensures project sustainability by complying with regulations, managing waste, controlling pollution, and protecting the natural environment. Their responsibilities include designing prevention strategies, overseeing resource use, monitoring impacts (air, water, and noise), and ensuring legal compliance with the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA).

1.    Key Responsibilities

Waste Management: Oversee the segregation, storage, and final disposal of construction waste to ensure proper recycling or disposal.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the project complies with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and permits.

Impact Mitigation: Implement measures to prevent air, water, and soil pollution, including control of dust, noise, and discharges.

Efficient Use of Resources: Promote water and energy conservation, as well as the efficient use of materials to prevent waste and losses.

Monitoring and Reporting: Supervise daily activities, conduct impact assessments, and prepare environmental monitoring reports for management.

Training and Awareness: Educate site personnel on environmental best practices.

Contingency Planning: Develop and manage response plans for potential environmental incidents (e.g., spills, leaks).

Coordination with Jamaican Authorities: Attend inspections by public agencies, liaise with officials, build trusted relationships, and proactively present solutions to address or prevent potential issues.

Key Deliverables

  • Monthly executive reports required by NEPA.
  • Critical and analytical thinking; results-oriented with a focus on the critical path.
  • Executive communication and meeting facilitation; negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Multi-project management and prioritization; ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality.
  • Strong documentation discipline; accuracy in data and traceability.
  • Cross-functional collaboration (leadership without formal authority).

Skills (soft & hard) 

3.    KPIs / Performance Metrics

  • Analysis of the number of issues and/or warnings raised by NEPA representatives to the project team.
  • Critical risks identified at least 4 weeks in advance of impact (anticipation rate).

 4.    Knowledge Requirements

8.1 Communication and Reporting
• Preparation of executive reports (weekly/monthly): risks, variances, and next steps.
• Clear, decision-oriented schedule narrative for Management and Client.

8.2 Information Governance
• Single Source of Truth: coding standards, data quality, progress measurement criteria, and change audit control.
