Basic Salary per annum: $5,881,100.00
OBJECTIVES/SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under the supervision of the Partnership Manager, the Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) will head the Tourism Innovation Incubator Unit within the Research and Risk Management Department. The EIR will lend the technical support to the incubated entrepreneurial ventures, managing the risk and returns of the overall portfolio of high impact ventures to optimize the lifetime value (LTV) of the engagement. The Entrepreneur in Residence will also have direct oversight for the development and management of all Tourism Innovation Incubator initiatives, such as hackathons, capacity-building and conferences.

KEY RESPONSIBILTY AREAS
Technical/Professional Responsibilities
- Design, develop, coordinate and manage tourism innovation challenges.
- Facilitate requests made through innovation challenges.
- Serve as a resource for Tourism Innovation Incubator participants.
- Serve as a resource for external queries on tourism innovation.
- Make recommendations grant funding or partnerships.
- Collaborate with Partnership Manager to follow through on partnership and mentorship leads.
- Provide oversight for the administration of the Tourism Innovation Grant.
- Chair the Tourism Innovation Endorsement Committee.
- Participate in business and academic networks to help attract new members, mentors and investors to the Tourism Innovation Incubator.
- Liaise with the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation for the development and execution of tourism innovation programmes in schools and communities.
- Lead the development of the agenda for Tourism Innovation conferences, workshops etc.
- Provide oversight for the logistics of tourism innovation events, for example conferences, workshops, webinars etc.
- Collaborate with the Research Analyst in the developing tourism innovation challenges.
- Liaise with the Risk Analyst to assess risks of innovative projects/initiatives to be executed by the Tourism Innovation Incubator.
- Collaborate with the Communications Department to create tourism innovation awareness and culture shift programmes.
- Liaise with TEF information and communication technology (ICT) personnel to identify and select the relevant digital technologies to support the Tourism Innovation Incubator.
Management/Administrative
- Develop draft processes and procedures for the Tourism Innovation Incubator, as necessary.
- Develop terms of reference for Tourism Innovation Incubator projects.
- Develop key performance indicators and monitoring and evaluation plan for innovation projects in collaboration with the TEF Corporate Planner.
- Report on risks associated with the Tourism Innovation Incubator portfolio and mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate the compilation of required material, literature, calendars of events and other event related material for local and overseas organizations;
- Prepare project updates for reports for various stakeholders.
- Draft and edit reports, designs correspondence, presentations, tables, charts, financial reports, budgets and general reports as directed;
- Follow up on required action to critical correspondence received to ensure timely
- responses;
- Attend meetings and take notes, as required.
- Respond intelligently and expeditiously to internal and external enquiries and complaints; where necessary, refers these enquiries to the appropriate officers;
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs any other duties relevant to the work of the TEF and Department or that may be reasonably assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of entrepreneurial experience including founding or co-founding a business.
- Demonstrated knowledge of early-stage development of technology businesses and/or technology-enabled businesses.
- Proven ability to raise capital through pitch competitions, grant writing, crowdfunding or other business investment negotiations.
- Experience developing co-curricular business workshops or conference/event planning.
AUTHORITIES OF THE JOB
- Recommends expenditure from the approval budgetary allocation of TEF.
- Recommendation for approval of payments based on determination of satisfactory deliverables.
- Develop a system of key performance indicators for use in the analysis of tourism data.
- Seek potential innovation and business development partners and mentors on behalf of the RRMD that complement the strategic plan and mandate.
- Make routine decisions on how work is to be carried out.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Tourism innovation initiatives (challenges, hackathons, high school and community programmes etc) are executed according to set key performance indicators.
- All obligations of the Tourism Innovation Incubator to its stakeholders are carried out.
- Budget is prudently utilized to create the best impact for the tourism sector.
- Risks are managed to ensure minimum negative impact in the execution of the mandate, and to capitalize on opportunities.
- Technical advice and recommendations provided are evidence-based and delivered in agreed timeframes.
- Accurate annual/quarterly/monthly performance reports provided in accordance to established standards and within agreed timeframes.
- Individual work plans developed in conformity to established standards and within agreed timeframes.
- Confidentiality, integrity and professionalism displayed in the delivery of duties and interaction with staff.
- Established deadlines, targets and quality standards are consistently met.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS
- Travel islandwide and abroad in performance of duties/attend meetings, etc;
- Work in excess of normal working hours from time to time, in order to achieve set deadlines;
- Work on weekends and public holidays may be required but usually with prior notice;
