The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Preparing clear, complete, and accurate two and three dimensional working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes for engineering purposes, according to specified dimensions using Computer Aided Design (CAD) system.
  • Using CAD equipment to provide support to Engineers by preparing routine layouts, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams.
  • Preparing documentation for short and long term contracts. 
  • Assisting in the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of engineering and maintenance projects.
  • Coordinating project meetings, preparing agendas, recording minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation, registers, and filing systems (digital and physical).
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely flow of information.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, and project status updates for management.
  • Working closely with all relevant departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
  • Preparing drawings for government’s planning authority standard and requirements.
  • Working from customer drawings, company drawings, Government drawings, or specifications. 
  • Carrying out site inspections to verify construction is proceeding according to approved designed drawings

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering Technology, Architectural Studies, Mechanical/Civil Engineering or the equivalent
  • Competent in the use MS Windows, Word, AutoCAD, and Visio
  • 2 to 3 years work experience preparing drawings for regulatory approval and working in a similar environment
  • Proficiency in meeting drawing standards as it relates to building and construction codes
  • Possess strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Results oriented
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-changing environment
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure
  • Qualifications to certify drawings for submission to municipal corporations and other government agencies would be an asset.
