The incumbent is responsible for the overall maintenance and functioning of all equipment, machinery, projects, infrastructure and utilities of CGA Ltd.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Engineering department, by leading and coordinating all engineering functions, including preventative maintenance, reducing downtime, driving projects and value engineering, to ensure the highest level of productivity & efficiency, whilst maintain proper records.
  • Develop and manage transfer plans for new products, product upgrades and engineering changes.
  • Develop, implement and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve reliability, reduce downtime, re-works and reduce wastage.
  • Ensures the Engineering maintenance plans are prepared, shared and executed as per schedule and in alignment with production and sales objectives and requirements.
  • Ensure weekly status and performance reports are submitted to management in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate current processes and develops, recommends, implements and maintains all changes with consideration of long-term lean production system design and techniques.
  • Manages the repair and maintenance of all plant, utilities, infrastructure and facilities to ensure high standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance, engineering and process development initiatives to ensure increased efficiencies.
  • Manage all aspects of engineering project from feasibility through start-up for new equipment, processes, procedures and systems, including project feasibility, scoping, financial assessment, project execution and handover/support.
  • Serves as project manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
  • Negotiates contracts with outside vendors / contractors and maintains contact with suppliers for critical spare parts.
  • Supports the Engineering Supervisors with the day-to-day, to ensure efficient operations whilst achieving engineering KPI targets, in alignment with the Balanced Scorecard.
  • Maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees on the floor throughout the workday.
  • Facilitates communication among the Engineering team, internal departments, contractors and vendors, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Designs and maintains an efficient system to manage the M&R Stores and spare parts inventory, inclusive of procurement of replacement parts.
  • Monitoring of M&R inventory levels, spare parts usage and accuracy of stock sheets.
  • Maintains Engineering staff job results by coaching, training, appraising, monitoring and if required disciplining employees.
  • Ensures succession planning is in place for Engineering / maintenance responsibilities;
  • Resolves maintenance-related issues with representatives from other departments throughout the company.
  • Prepares and manages the departments and Capex budgets to achieve financial objectives by managing expenditures, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions especially for outsourcing, projects, spares and overtime.
  • Develops, updates and maintains SOPs, JDs, JSAs, PA templates, checklists, google sheets, databased and ensures adequate records are maintained for all Engineering / maintenance related activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance related databased (soft and physical) are maintained in alignment with all company requirements (e.g., calibration records, shift reports, incident reports etc.)
  • Managing, evaluating and reporting on Engineering / maintenance productivity and key performance indicators in line with the company’s objectives.
  • Conduct detailed investigations, cause/effect analyses, investigations, corrective action planning and root cause analyses into Engineering related downtime and non-conformances and prepare and share detailed reports, inclusive of corrective actions.
  • Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
  • Conducts regular inspections of Engineering workshops, Boiler Room and storage areas to ensure adherence to storage requirements, quality, food safety & HSE standards.
  • Immediately report any non-conformances relating to Engineering / maintenance operations to the Chief Production Officer.
  • Communicates equipment related downtimes and major breakdowns (exceeding 30 mins) to key stakeholders. Provide details of root cause of these as well as repairs required and timelines to address.
  • Conforms to all established departmental & company policies, procedures & objectives, fulfils the requirements of CGA Ltd.’s SQF Program including but not limited to GMPs, PPE, HACCP, food safety & HSE site protocols.
  • Attend any training as required by the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
