Job Summary:

  • The Electrical Engineer I will work with other team members in order to improve reliability by, reducing incidence of costly breakdowns and developing strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes. He or she will provide assistance in trouble shooting, issuing reports on major failures, and recommending suitable actions to minimize or eliminate recurrence of the problems, formulates preventive maintenance schedules and associated procedures and checklists. He or she will assist with training and development of training programs for technicians.

Job Description:

  • Planning and undertaking of scheduled maintenance and project work.
  • Troubleshooting problems and failures by working closely with team members whenever required. Assists in troubleshooting of problems of unknown cause, i.e., could be electrical, mechanical, process, etc.
  • Issues reports on major problems and failures, suggests suitable corrective actions to minimize or prevent recurrence of the problem.
  • Leads and Supervises technicians in maintenance related activities and ensures that maintenance practices are carried out in accordance with accepted standard.
  • Keeps abreast with contemporary technology and maintenance practices and suggests upgrades/modifications with the aim of improving reliability and maintainability, reducing maintenance costs, enhancing quality and safety.
  • Develop maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods to aid in maintenance repairs.
  • Create purchase request for non-stock items as and when required by giving correct technical specifications for the parts or items required and liaisons with purchase upon finalizing order with vendors.
  • Design of solutions for operational and health and safety issues.
  • Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs.
  • Liaise with external customers/contractors/suppliers as and when necessary.
  • Assist on any committees/groups/taskforces that may be formed to deal with specific issues, and any other duties/responsibilities that may be assigned by your immediate Supervisor.
  • Maintain all utilities including water, electricity, and air systems.
  • Ensure all inputs in the ERP system are completed accurately and on time.
  • Comply and perform all duties in conformance with the Company’s/Department’s strategies along with the Quality Management System as it relates to health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in the Manufacturing or Oil and Gas Sector.
  • Must be able to analyze and synthesize information to understand issues to make recommendations.
  • Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player and possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to effectively plan and execute minor project-based activities.
  • Ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas clearly using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communications skills.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, flow charts and electrical diagrams.
  • Attention to detail and must be detail-oriented when inspecting and executing tasks.
  • Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure without becoming flustered.
  • Ability to organise work so that tasks assigned are completed on time, prioritize projects, and communicate progress to supervisors and colleagues.
