Editor- Guardian Media Limited

The Editor will provide guidance and leadership on all aspects of GML’s content across all platforms. He/she will work with the Managing Editor and other Guardian Media editors to determine, create, edit and oversee all multi-media content and projects.

Job Summary: 

The Editor will provide guidance and leadership on all aspects of GML’s content across all platforms. He/she will work with the Managing Editor and other Guardian Media editors to determine, create, edit and oversee all multi-media content and projects. The position will also provide oversight and guidance in ensuring said content is competently gathered, edited and processed for all digital/multimedia platforms. 

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborates with the Managing Editor and other Editors to determine editorial policies and ensure that compliance is met.
• Provides editorial oversight of all desk/department programmes.
• Collaborates with the Managing Editor, to determine the budget for the overall operations.
• Collaborates with Managing Editor to develop strategic plans for the direction of Guardian Media.
• Provides oversight, edits content and final approvals for publication.
• Collaborates with the multi-media team to develop story ideas and editorial calendars to meet company objectives.
• Ensures that completed reports are delivered within the specified timeline.
• Writes editorials as required.
• Provides leadership and training to team members.
• Collaborates with team to develop cross platform story ideas.
• Collaborates with team to ensure content quality control across all platforms.
• Any other related duties, which may be assigned.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism/ Mass Communications or any other related field
• A minimum of 2-5years’ work experience as a Senior Editor in a media industry
• Experience in a multimedia environment would be an asset

• Highly skilled in long/short-form writing, big-picture reads and detailed copy-editing, conceptualizing story ideas, layout and overall publication direction

• Ability to edit, report and produce in a multi-media platform
• Excellent content management and editing skills
