The E-Commerce Associate manages online sales, customer support, order fulfillment, and website quality, ensuring functionality and user-friendliness while supporting IT tasks, marketing, and growth of the Homeland Furnishing Fabricland Stores online brand.

Job Purpose
The E-Commerce Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service for our online platform, assist with online purchases or issues, tracking inventory levels, fulfilling orders and ensure the Homeland website is functional, visible and easy to use. The associate would be heavily involved in the quality assurance of such website content, while perform IT-related tasks that underpin these systems. The role will involve the growing the online retail business, reporting and marketing of the Homeland Furnishing Fabricland Stores Online brand.

1. Key Result Area: E-Commerce

  • DESIGN SKILLS – 3D design, art history, color theory, communication design, design theory, illustration, photography, typography, printing techniques, visual art, IT skills with design and photo-editing software, strong eye for visual composition.
  • SOFT SKILLS – High level communication skills, artistry and creativity, analytical skills, time management skills, ability to collaborate, professional flexibility, passion and enthusiasm for design, confidence in presentation skills, ability to multi-task, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, an understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment, open-mindedness, and a willingness to accept feedback and make changes to designs.
2. Key Expectations 
  • Website Management & Content Updates:
    • Ensure the e-commerce website is functional, visually appealing, easy to navigate, and up to date with accurate product listings and information.
    • Collaborate with Marketing to create and implement design elements that align with brand standards, using tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Monitor website performance, track traffic and customer reviews, and communicate any maintenance needs to the outsourced web hosting company.
  • Customer Support & Order Fulfilment:
    • Provide timely and professional responses to customer inquiries via e-mail, telephone, and other forms of communication, escalating issues as necessary.
    • Coordinate with retail locations to secure products for online orders and ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
  • Graphic Design Support:
    • Assist the Marketing team in developing digital assets, including banners, product images, and promotional graphics, as directed.
    • Ensure that all designs maintain brand consistency and meet the project requirements.
  • Coordination with Outsourced Web Hosting Partner:
    • Act as the primary liaison with the company’s web hosting provider for site maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting technical issues.
    • Schedule and oversee any intensive site maintenance or technical upgrades to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Inventory & Data Analysis:
    • Track and manage inventory levels for online products and liaise with stores to maintain accurate stock information on the website.
    • Analyze e-commerce sales and website performance data to identify trends, make recommendations, and optimize the online shopping experience.
  • Content Creation & Optimization:
    • Create, review, and update website content as needed, including product descriptions and SEO-related copy to enhance visibility.
    • Photograph and edit new products for website and marketing content.
  • Payment & Security Compliance:
    • Verify that all online payment transactions are accurate and secure, maintaining customer trust and data privacy.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration:
    • Work closely with internal departments, such as Sales and Marketing, to support campaign objectives and address any issues that arise.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other related tasks and projects as assigned.

Level of Education, skills and training required for the job:

  • A Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Computer Literacy & Experience using web content management systems & working with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Word Press, Canva & Adobe software.
An understanding of or experience in developing email marketing campaigns, photography, and creating/editing images.

Competencies Required:

  • Customer service skills
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid Certificate of Good Character.
  • College degree or equivalent and minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web.
  • Interpersonal / Communication & Willing to work as part of a team
  • Must have a good attention to detail, highly organized with good powers of analysis strong creative skills written & oral.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to pull, push lift objects weighing 20lbs.
  • Ability to lift and carry medium to large items several feet, weighing up to 40 pounds, while utilizing appropriate equipment.
  • Availability to work weekend days as necessary. Availability to work weekends, early or late hours and entire holiday season (especially October to December) under shift schedule, according to the needs and demands of the business.
