Draughting Technician

The Draughting Technician (DT), prepares engineering designs, drawings and related technical information, in multidisciplinary engineering teams or in support of engineers, architects and/or industrial designers.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Manager - Engineering or designee, the Draughting Technician (DT), prepares engineering designs, drawings and related technical information, in multidisciplinary engineering teams or in support of engineers, architects and/or industrial designers.  

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepare detailed piping, structural, civil and storage tank drawings in a 2D/ 3D format in conformance with industry codes and standards.
2. Develop drawings of various types (e.g. plot plans, orthographic, isometric etc.) using the latest version of AutoCAD software.
3. Take field dimensions and supply as built drawings, both on and off-shore.
4. Provide field sketches for piping design utilizing referenced drawings to support.
5. Conduct quality control reviews of drawings and packages.
6. Produce fabrication drawings for piping ISO, pipe spools, ducting, fluestack, structural steel, tanks, and 3D drawings to be used by “Algor” program to test stress on structures and tanks.
7. Carry out any other duties/tasks for which the employee has the competencies to perform for the successful completion of assigned jobs.

KEY COMPETENCIES / REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

• Demonstrated knowledge in drafting and piping/mechanical drawing.
• Proficient in mathematics and physics.
• Ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings and the relationships between parts in machinery and systems.
• Good working knowledge of Computer Aided Design & Engineering Completed (AutoCAD for Tanks & Spool drawings).
• Knowledge of the qualities of metals, plastics, wood and other materials, of manufacturing processes and of construction methods and standards.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of codes and specifications with respect to structural steel, storage tanks and process piping and the organization’s welding procedures; as well as welding materials and their properties.
• Proficient in Welding Procedure Specifications and their applications.
• Effective communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written).
