Dorm Manager (MPAL) Position
Title: Dorm Manager
Reports to: Director of Football
Job Summary:
The Dorm Manager is responsible for the daily operations and overall well-being of student
athletes residing in the school's dormitories. This role is crucial for fostering a safe, supportive, and disciplined environment that complements the academic and athletic goals of the students. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a genuine passion for mentoring young people, and the ability to manage both the logistical and pastoral needs of the dormitory residents.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Supervision and Welfare:
Provide 24/7 on-call supervision and support for all dormitory residents.
Enforce dormitory rules, regulations, and a code of conduct consistently and fairly.
Serve as the primary point of contact for students' personal and emotional needs, providing guidance and mentorship.
Monitor student attendance, curfew, and study sessions.
Respond to and manage all student emergencies, including medical issues, conflicts, and disciplinary matters.
2. Facility and Operations Management:
Oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of the dormitory facilities.
Coordinate with maintenance and housekeeping staff to ensure a high standard of living conditions.
Manage resident check-in and check-out processes at the beginning and end of each term.
Maintain an inventory of dormitory supplies and furnishings, and report any damages or needs for repair.
Implement and practice emergency response procedures (e.g., fire drills, natural disaster protocols).
3. Communication and Administration:
Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, coaches, and school administrators.
Keep detailed records of student well-being, disciplinary actions, and any notable incidents.
Regularly update the Director of Football and Principal on dormitory life and any significant issues.
Facilitate regular dorm meetings to address student concerns and share important information.
4. Community Building:
Organize and supervise recreational, social, and educational activities within the dorm.
Encourage a positive and inclusive community atmosphere where students feel respected and supported.
Act as a positive role model, promoting the values of sportsmanship, respect, and academic excellence. Qualifications and Requirements
Proven experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a residential or educational setting.
Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
Ex-Police, Ex-Warden, or Ex-Soldier experience is an asset.
A background in education, sports management, or youth development is highly desirable.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must possess a valid Jamaican driver's license.
