The GEL Building Supplies Division (GBS) which is comprised of companies in St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Barbados and Grenada is one of five divisions within GEL is recruiting a result oriented, team spirited, and highly organized individual to join our team as a Divisional Purchasing Manager.
The successful candidate should ideally be located in any GBS operating territory (St. Vincent, Grenada, St. Lucia, Barbados and will report to the CEO for the Building Supplies Division. The selected applicant will be responsible for developing all purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating, managing, and leading the internal divisional purchasing teams regarding all inventory planning and replenishment. The position will also be responsible for retail merchandising, planogram reviews, private label development, group pricing, and global sourcing, including the development and implementation of a central purchasing strategy.
THE ROLE:
The key responsibilities for the Divisional Purchasing Manager:
- Lead and motivate a team whilst developing and implementing divisional purchasing strategies ensuring that “Central Purchasing” synergies are achieved with the use of an ERP system.
- Manage and lead the remote purchasing teams in the different markets whilst developing and implementing their purchasing strategies and ensuring that they are integrated with the overall long-term strategy of the division.
- Preparation of purchasing budgets to ensure divisional forecasted sales growth and profitability are achieved.
- Report monthly on the status and initiatives of the groups purchasing depts.
- Identify, develop and implement GEL private label products
- Managing supplier and logistical freight relations by negotiating contracts, payment terms, pricing, timelines, brand representation etc.
- Play a key role in the conceptualizing, designing, forecasting, implementing, and merchandising of all new stores.
- Tracking and reporting of KPI’s to manage inventory, increase stock turns and limit stock out situations effectively
- Maintaining of divisional supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation
- Review all bidding processes and contracts (e.g., prepare specifications, evaluate bids, recommend vendors, etc
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Business Studies, Supply Chain Management or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ management experience, particularly in procurement
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office
- Proven knowledge of the procurement process, with an understanding of strategic sourcing, logistics, building materials and commodity markets
- Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly Acumatica
- Familiarity with regional sourcing challenges and import regulations in the Caribbean
- Marketing and merchandising experience would be an asset
- The ability to communicate in Spanish or Mandarin Chinese would also be an asset
- Possess a valid passport with the eligibility to obtain a US Visa.
