The Dispatcher/Receiver is responsible for accurately checking off product against invoice or other Company documents when it comes to dispatching goods to the delivery personnel, Van and Tobago Transfers, and on & off-site transformation.
Job Summary:
The Dispatcher/Receiver is responsible for accurately checking off product against invoice or other Company documents when it comes to dispatching goods to the delivery personnel, Van and Tobago Transfers, and on & off-site transformation. It also encompasses the receipt of goods into the warehouse.
Responsibilities:
- Dispatching of goods for Delivery as well as transfers to van sales, to Tobago and for Transformation on and off site.
- Dispatching requires arranging the pulling forward of goods to be checked before sending to the delivery drivers for final check and acceptance for delivery.
- Ensure that correct goods have been pulled for dispatching to the Delivery person. Notify Supervisors if incorrect items have been pulled.
- Ensure that correct quantities have been pulled for dispatching to the delivery person. Notify Supervisor if incorrect items have been pulled.
- Ensure that goods are in perfect order (not damaged, dusty or not in proper condition or past their Best before date).
- Ensure that goods are dispatched to correctly assigned delivery person and that delivery person checks items and then signs all relevant documents.
- Keep strict records of all the goods that have been dispatched or received by following all necessary company protocols
- Assists with the loading of goods if necessary.
- Be the point of Contact for all van sales and Tobago transfers and other transfers. Double checking quantities match documentation and that the BB dates are in compliance with the agreement with the 3rd party.
- Ensure that correct goods are received from suppliers
- Ensure that correct quantities received from suppliers.
- Ensure that goods are in perfect order (not damaged in any form or past their Best before date). Follow outlined procedure should product not meet expected standards.
- Receive all the damaged product off of the van and follow outlined procedure for Warehouse personnel.
- Perform other related duties as required by job function.
Qualification and Experience:
- Communication: He/she must have excellent listening and communication skills. The person must also be able to sustain an open line of communication with the parties involved– customer, manager, and driver
- Multitasking: Dispatching and receiving involves a lot of work at the same time – receiving calls from different drivers, customers, and managers; and arranging for dispatches and receiving of goods. Therefore, the person must be able to multitask and prioritize effectively without making mistakes
- Accuracy: Must be able to easily differentiate between items that are similar in nature with slight changes in labels. Examples: Wine portfolio.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- He/she must be willing to work flexible schedules including as and when required.
- He/she must exhibit a high level of emotional maturity and calmness to handle the stress associated with the position.
- He/she must be educated at least to the level of high school diploma to be able to accurately deal with the paperwork involved in the position. In addition, he/she is required to be computer literate.
- Ability to operate a forklift is an asset
