Our client is seeking a Director of Human Resource Management and Administration to provide leadership, drive innovation, and guide the overall people strategy focusing on enhancing administrative infrastructure and promoting a culture of excellence throughout the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role oversees the development of human resources policies and ensures their effective implementation in compliance with all regulations and laws. It supports daily operations, staff development, performance evaluation processes and maintains a healthy industrial relations climate. The Director also manages office functions for smooth administration, provides expert HR guidance, and fosters a culture of high performance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Key duties:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the Human Resource and Administration departments, ensuring alignment with organisational vision and objectives.
- Design, implement, and monitor HR policies, procedures, and best practices that foster compliance, innovation, and inclusivity.
- Lead talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention initiatives to build a diverse and high-performing workforce.
- Drive employee engagement, training, and development programmes to support professional growth and succession planning.
- Manage compensation, benefits, and performance management systems, ensuring competitiveness and transparency.
- Oversee administrative functions including records management, facilities, and organisational processes to optimise operations.
- Ensure adherence to Jamaican labour laws, employment regulations, and global HR standards.
- Act as advisor to senior management on people matters, risk management, and organisational development.
Preferred Profile
- Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business/Public Administration or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in SHRM-SCP.
- At least 5 years' experience at the leadership level.
- At least 2 years' experience successfully handling union negotiations.
- Knowledge of Jamaican labor and industrial relations laws.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience with HR software and analytics is an asset.
