About EC2
The Expertise Center Education Care (EC2) on Saba provides specialized support to children and young people from ages 0 to 23. We work closely with day care centers, primary and secondary schools, BSO, and after-school care. Our dedicated, multi-disciplinary team supports students, teachers, and families.

What will you do as Director?

You will:

• Lead and strengthen a well-coordinated education care system
• Ensure continuous support for all students, from early childhood to young adulthood
• Implement and safeguard inclusive education policies
• Work closely with the EC2 team and board to promote meaningful education for all
• Communicate respectfully and transparently with families and partners
• Balance urgent needs with long-term planning in a challenging environment
• Build strong connections with stakeholders and networks

Management responsibilities:

• Lead and support the EC2 team and create a positive, collaborative work environment
• Coordinate care services and promote equal opportunities for all students
• Let the EC2 team thrive by working on collaboration
• Guide and advise the board and external partners
• Manage the budget and ensure financial transparency
• Monitor and improve quality through a structured system
• Strengthen cooperation with all involved organizations

Educational responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the multi-year Education Care Plan for Saba
• Promote practical, action-oriented support
• Plan for both short- and long-term educational needs
• Conduct or oversee educational assessments and placement testing
• Provide training and professional development for the team

What we’re looking for:

• A degree in (special) pedagogy or educational sciences
• A minimum of 3–5 years (but preferably more) of experience in educational leadership and special education
• Qualified to perform educational assessments
• Familiar with Saba’s care system (based on the Dutch model)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Fluent in English and Dutch

Details

• Full-time position (40 hours/week)
• Salary scale OOP BES (Onderwijs Ondersteunend Personeel BES): Depending on experience, Scale 13 or 14
• A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) with an educational profile and references will be required
