JOB SUMMARY

As a Data Scientist Analyst, you will be a key member of the data science team, contributing to the foundation of our data infrastructure and analytics. You will work closely alongside other data and business professionals across the group to ensure that high quality data flows through to our analytics and machine learning solutions. As such, you can expect to collaborate closely with the Group’s Information Technology team in the development of data collection systems such as cloud enabled databases, lake houses and data lakes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to analyze data and derive insights. This will involve using your analytical and programming skills e.g. Python, SQL, in activities such as data collection, data cleaning, data exploration, data visualization, data modeling, and data investigation across multiple data sources.
  • Apply your statistical knowledge and techniques to data cleansing, outlier identification, and treatment of missing data activities, to monitor and make recommendations for improving data quality at source.
  • Create analytic narratives from data and visualisations, and present findings to selected audiences across the group of companies. This can involve the use basic machine learning and other data analytics techniques to get insights from data.
  • Assist in the launch of data products such and communication of data driven insights.
  • Assist in the maintenance of data and machine learning models through various stages of development, test and production. This includes monitoring data trends over time to identify potential anomalies or changes in business metrics.
  • Research and identify suitable algorithms and features/ dimensions that can be used to analyze data from our data sources, across verticals including sector, consumer and products verticals.
  • Identify/highlight opportunities to keep abreast of technical skills to the management team.
  • Share technical knowledge within the team as well as advise others on data analytics and machine learning techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3  years of experience in AI/ Data Science/ Analytics, preferably in finance or accounting or another professional services environment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Good analytics and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities, including ability to use Microsoft applications such as Word and PowerPoint to communicate insights.
  • Experience with data wrangling and ETL processes with basic/ intermediate knowledge in at least one of the following business intelligence/ machine learning technologies:
    • Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Alteryx
    • Python/R including machine learning libraries
    • Structured Query Language (SQL)
    • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
    • Data Mining
    • Statistical Analysis Systems (SAS)
    • Statistical Modelling
  • Familiarity with working in cloud-based environments with preference given to Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • A collaborative mindset, business acumen.
