The Customs Clerk I is responsible for effectively and efficiently ensuring that all cargo and raw material are cleared from ports of departure, and bonded warehouses, also export at ports of exit.

Job Summary

The Customs Clerk I is responsible for effectively and efficiently ensuring that all cargo and raw material are cleared from ports of departure, and bonded warehouses, also export at ports of exit.

Job Responsibilities

• Obtain necessary endorsements from customs and other government ministries for imports and exports.
• Obtain approval from shipping agents and customs to ship cargo from port of exit.
• Obtain certification of cheques at the Company’s associated bank.
• Monitor un-stuffing of containers at the relevant ports of entry, and bonded warehouses
• Deliver and collect documents from applicable government ministries
• Processing documents at the various ports of entry for delivery of cargo
• Deliver consignee mail and payment of freight at local agents
• Obtain customs examination/delivery at relevant ports of entry for clearance of goods
• Conduct all business transactions in accordance with the high ethical standards that the company maintains.
• Participate in the development and implementation of, and perform all duties in accordance with procedures as per ISO 9001 standards and the Company’s Quality Systems Manual.
• Participate in Training and Development activities as required
• Participate in and assist in the monthly stock taking activity as required.
• Promote safety awareness and the development of a Safety culture within the company.
• Conduct any other related duties that may be assigned by the Customs Supervisor/Chief Financial Officer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Minimum of two years' work experience in a similar function.
• Proficiency in English Language.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ACE, ASYCUDA.
• Experience in a warehouse environment of a manufacturing entity would be an asset.
• Problem solving skills, technical expertise and customer service skills.
