 Job Summary

The Credit & Collection manager is responsible for the timely receiving of payment from credit customers and will identify opportunities to minimize excessive loss and resolve credit disputes. The manager will ensure that collections are done according to company policies and regulations and will continuously find ways to improve the company’s debt recovery. He/she also determine a customer's eligibility for credit options by analyzing documents and financial status.

 Primary Job Functions

  • Create and implement strategies to improve the collection of outstanding credit.
  • Implement collection policies and procedures to avoid excessive outstanding credit.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s recovery policies.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPI’s), providing monthly reports to senior management.
  • Monitor customers aging to reduce delinquency and expected credit loss.  
  • Calculate and establish monthly/yearly collections targets
  • Contribute to the establishing of the company's yearly budget
  • Assess credit applications and establish new credit limits and terms. Proactively analyze historical customer data to identify trends and predictive indicators of creditworthiness and risk.
  • Ensure professional and collaborative relationships are established and maintained with customers and internal teams.
  • Train and coach members of the sales, credit and collections team.
  • Undertake trade visits to ensure timely collections, maintain strong client relationships, and support business growth.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned that is relevant to ensuring efficient and viable operations of the company.

 Education/Training/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance.
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Experience in the distribution sector is an advantage
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles is necessary for accurate record-keeping.
  • Proven ability to manage the credit and collections operations of an organization

 Skills

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, organizational and reporting skills.
  • Strong negotiation and research skills, ability to remain composed during stressful negotiations.
  • Sound interpersonal and supervisory skills that will foster team-work and collaboration.
