Cost Accounting Analyst to support the Senior Manufacturing Accountant in maintaining the integrity of the standard costing system.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist the Senior Manufacturing Accountant in preparing timely costing schedules for monthly management reports.
  • Support preparation of costing data for annual budgets.
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses comparing budget vs. actual and actual vs. prior year performance.
  • Reconcile daily inventory movements to and from Key Account (Virtual) Warehouses.
  • Verify inventory to be written off as advised by Quality Control.
  • Participate in periodic/monthly stock counts and cycle counts.
  • Review and post inventory counting journals after validation.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances.
  • Verify and measure production scrap, spillage, and waste daily.
  • Assist with costing of both manufactured and imported products.
  • Prepare monthly GL reconciliations and audit schedules as required.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

Authority To:

  • Investigate variances and problem areas flagged by the computerized production system.
  • Implement corrective procedures to minimize recurrence of variances.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSc Degree in Accounting, AAT Level III, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the food manufacturing and/or distribution industry is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software

Specific Knowledge Required:

  • Working knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with company accounting procedures and practices.
  • Experience with relevant accounting software packages.

Required Skills and Techniques:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Effective time management skills.
