Job description:

Primary objective of the job: 

As part of the digital transformation project team for Digicel, Core Lead Engineer will be responsible for managing the integration of the BSS/OCS solution to the Core Network. The individual will also be responsible for analysing, preparing, implementing and verifying the configuration and integration of the BSS stack with the Core Network Elements.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute the Integration of new BSS solution into the Core network
• Prepare system test, module test and accept test
• Experience with troubleshooting skills on MSC, EPG, MME and PCRF
• Produce High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLD / LLD) and develop and implement a Method of Procedure (MOP) for Core network functions
• Have E2E technical understanding across mobile networks including 3G, 4G and 5G – with emphasis on the following functions: HSS-FE, HLR-FE, BSS, Provisioning and other related functions
• Work closely with the Services Layer and Packet Core team to translate the customer need and technology opportunities into detailed technical offerings, solutions and proposals
• Troubleshoot of nodes, network functions and/or systems to help isolate and rectify complex faults in the network
• Work closely with Project Managers to drive upgrades, new implementations and delivery improvements
• Provide ongoing technical support / consultancy to our customer (post project activities)
• Work with core team on list of potential activities and solutions
• Integration with VAS services  such as Voicemail, SMS, DMS and VAS 3PP applications
• Responsible for low level designing and developing/configuring the Core Network Functions
• Ensure specifications and product requirements meet group/local markets needs
• Using knowledge and deep understanding of existing solutions and system components to integrate and design solutions that minimize the level of custom SW development required
• Provide support and guidance to Technology and Commercial teams in Group and Markets
• Provide planning, design and implementation across Access and Core networks
• Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and framework.
• Defining processes for Products, Services and Support structure to bring-in efficiency and cost control.

Academic qualifications and experience required:

• B.Sc. Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Engineering or Computer Science, Software Engineering and Master’s degree will be an additional asset
• Linux Admin and Programming background is good to have
• Exposure of Linux/UNIX and DBs with hand on experience of 5+ Years
• 10+ years working experience with Core network elements including but not limited to MSC, BSC, MME, EPG, SGSN, GGSN, PCRF, DPI, STP, HLR,HSS
• Experience with Core Charging and Policy Control Protocols (CAMEL, CS1+, Gy, Gx, Sy, Ro, SIP, INAP)
• Experience from technical job roles is required such an Integration Engineer is an asset
• Excellent understanding  and troubleshooting skills of charging, diameter protocols and scripting skills
• Knowledge of Network Functions Virtualization and NFV infrastructure
• Good communication skills and pro-active attitude to deliver results & meet customer’s expectations
• Analytical learning and researching skills; proficient planning and organizing skills to ensure achievements are met
• Prior experience with Multi-vendor BSS Solutions is good to have
• Prior experience with BSS/OCS migrations from legacy to digital stack
