We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our team. The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food while adhering to Island Grill’s food safety, sanitation, and production standards. This role ensures efficient use of kitchen equipment and supplies to minimize waste and supports a consistent customer experience by upholding our Quality, Service, and Cleanliness (QSC) standards.

Key Functions

  • Prepare high-quality, consistent food by following standard recipes, portion sizes, and cooking procedures
  • Monitor food quality through temperature checks and correct cooking techniques
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation while following food safety and occupational safety procedures
  • Complete assigned cleaning tasks to ensure overall restaurant cleanliness
  • Support inventory practices including stocking, labeling, rotation, and storage of food items
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the Manager on Duty
  • Maintain professional appearance and comply with uniform and grooming standards
  • Provide excellent internal customer service to team members and management
  • Help achieve QSC performance targets and support sales and profit goals by minimizing waste
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and gross profit margins
  • Contribute to food quality results as measured by internal audits and mystery shopper scores

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who:

  • skilled and motivated with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in fast-food or commercial kitchen operations
  • knowledgeable in food safety standards, portion control, and cooking procedures, and consistently produce high-quality, well-presented dishes
  • demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
  • reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • possess excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • High School Diploma with passes in Food & Nutrition/Home Management, Mathematics, and English at the CXC level
  • HEART Trust/NCTVET Level II/III in Commercial Food Preparation (asset)
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Cook or Chef, preferably in the fast-food industry
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and cooking procedures
