The Barbados National Energy Company Limited (BNECL) is entering an exciting new chapter following the strategic integration of three dynamic agencies. We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Commercial Manager to join our leadership team and play a critical role in shaping the company’s next phase of growth and transformation.

 

The Opportunity

As Commercial Manager, you will lead and execute BNECL’s commercial, customer service, marketing, and business development strategies while driving profitability and identifying new opportunities across traditional and renewable energy markets.

This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, relationship management capabilities, and experience navigating complex energy markets.

 

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

Commercial & Business Development

  • Managing supply portfolios and processing agreements for energy products
  • Leading commercial negotiations, contract delivery, and commercial closeout activities
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities, particularly in renewable energy markets
  • Expanding BNECL’s commercial footprint across local, regional, and international markets
  • Supporting logistics and supply chain capabilities for energy distribution
  • Conducting market intelligence and competitive analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Preparing annual commercial strategies, budgets, pricing models, and profitability analyses

Leadership & Customer Experience

  • Providing strategic oversight for Customer Service, Communications, and Marketing functions
  • Driving customer experience strategies that improve satisfaction, retention, and brand reputation
  • Establishing KPIs and performance frameworks to enhance operational efficiency and service excellence
  • Managing stakeholder engagement and corporate communications across internal and external channels
  • Overseeing marketing initiatives to strengthen visibility and market positioning

Operational & Strategic Support

  • Collaborating with operations, finance, and technical teams to ensure alignment on business objectives
  • Supporting digital transformation initiatives across commercial operations
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry standards
  • Managing escalated customer and stakeholder issues with professionalism and efficiency

 

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ management-level experience, preferably within the energy sector
  • Experience in refined product trading and/or renewable energy products will be highly advantageous
