Commercial Banking Officer

Functional Assignment:

  • The role of the Commercial Banking Officer will be responsible for coordinating and
    supporting the day-to-day administrative requirements for Commercial Banking transactions.
  • Responsible for performing all duties and functions consistent with the Group’s policies and procedures, health and safety standards and business continuity responsibilities while always delivering service excellence.

Main Duties:

  • Assist with general file management, document preparation and gathering, and Know Your Customer (KYC)/AML requirements activities such as:
    • Gathering, completion and perfection of all KYC onboarding documentation.
    • Conducting relevant Anti-Money Laundering screenings for transactions.
    • Completion of Customer Risk Rating forms for transactions.
    • Preparation of formal communication/instructions for attorneys, valuators
    • Finalization of physical loan files and scanning of electronic copies to the bank’s internal drive and vaulting of same.
    • Maintain Copies of contracts to be collated and mailed to clients for completed Loans
    • Monitoring and ordering stationery for the branch
    • Manage Unit’s Pipeline Log ensuring that information is up to date and dispatched in a timely manner
    • Prepares and/or inputs data and submits confidential credit reports promptly for the attention of financial and other institutions upon request
    • Maintain a hard and digital filing system to secure copies of all corporate credit proposals, collateral, supporting documentation and internal reports, to facilitate easy retrieval and availability for internal audit purposes
  • Deals Closing & Execution activities including:
    • Preparation and perfection of transaction documents / loan files prior to execution and financial closing of transactions.
    • Preparation of disbursement memos and supporting documents towards achieving financial close of transactions
    • Liaising with the relevant Service Partners for the input/creation of loans on bank system, pre-legal execution and document closing
    • Instructs and liaises with external bodies (Attorneys, Valuators, Insurers, other Banks etc.) in the routine operation of executing duties and perfecting securities.
  • Portfolio Management Duties including:
    • Performs diligent follow up for supporting documentation for annual reviews, renewal of collateral items, compliance with all recurring KYC/AML reporting requirements, completion and timely submission of all internal reporting requirements.
    • Assisting with TransUnion Audit, maintain log of all credit enquires generated and SOA
    • Maintain a log for securities renewals
    • Assist with preparation of various specialized internal reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Post Loan Administration duties including:
    • Processing loan files after loan closing and submission for filing in vault.
    • Posting of customer contracts and legal documents on bank’s internal filing system
    • Maintain document tracking system.
    • Act as the point of contact for internal and external clients for the Commercial Banking Unit.
  • Completes special projects and other related activities as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business/ Economics or related field from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of three (3) years banking experience in Credit in a Financial / Accounting or similar environment.

Business/Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
