About the Role

General Accident is strengthening its claims capability as part of its continued growth and commitment to service excellence.

We are seeking an experienced Claims Unit Supervisor to provide high-level technical oversight, guidance and leadership within our Claims function. This role plays a critical part in ensuring claims are assessed, managed and resolved promptly, accurately, fairly and efficiently.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical authority, supporting claims teams and engaging external stakeholders. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned claims professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgement, leadership capability and a service-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Claims Technical & Operational Support

  • Ensure that the Claims Team is administering and settling claims across all lines of business in a fair, timely and efficient manner
  • Review complex claims and provide technical advice and settlement recommendations
  • Support claims units in addressing issues of liability, quantum, recoveries and dispute resolution
  • Conduct audits of claim files to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal claims standards
  • Identify claims requiring notification to reinsurers and liaise with relevant internal teams
  • Collate and analyse claims data to support internal reporting and decision-making
  • Monitor the performance of external service providers and recommend improvements
  • Liaise with Legal Counsel on claims matters as required
  • Act as a subject matter expert for claims-related learning and development initiatives

 

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support a service-focused claims environment with an emphasis on fairness, transparency and timeliness
  • Resolve escalated customer complaints
  • Ensure clear, timely communication with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum five (5 CSEC passes, including Mathematics and English (Grades I or II)
  • Degree in Insurance & Risk Management, Business Administration, Management or a related field
  • Professional claims qualifications such as ACII, MICIA, AIC, PLAP, CPCU, IRM, or equivalent
  • 5–12 years’ technical insurance or claims experience
  • 3–8 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Exposure to 4D Underwriter program would be an asset

  • Advanced technical knowledge of claims investigation, settlement and portfolio management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound professional judgement
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to handle complex and sensitive matters
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • High standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability
