We are seeking an experienced Claims Unit Supervisor to provide high-level technical oversight, guidance and leadership within our Claims function. This role plays a critical part in ensuring claims are assessed, managed and resolved promptly, accurately, fairly and efficiently.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical authority, supporting claims teams and engaging external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Claims Technical & Operational Support
- Ensure that the Claims Team is administering and settling claims across all lines of business in a fair, timely and efficient manner
- Review complex claims and provide technical advice and settlement recommendations
- Support claims units in addressing issues of liability, quantum, recoveries and dispute resolution
- Conduct audits of claim files to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal claims standards
- Identify claims requiring notification to reinsurers and liaise with relevant internal teams
- Collate and analyse claims data to support internal reporting and decision-making
- Monitor the performance of external service providers and recommend improvements
- Liaise with Legal Counsel on claims matters as required
- Act as a subject matter expert for claims-related learning and development initiatives
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support a service-focused claims environment with an emphasis on fairness, transparency and timeliness
- Resolve escalated customer complaints
- Ensure clear, timely communication with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum five (5 CSEC passes, including Mathematics and English (Grades I or II)
- Degree in Insurance & Risk Management, Business Administration, Management or a related field
- Professional claims qualifications such as ACII, MICIA, AIC, PLAP, CPCU, IRM, or equivalent
- 5–12 years’ technical insurance or claims experience
- 3–8 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Strong computer literacy
- Exposure to 4D Underwriter program would be an asset
