The Chief of Protocol manages Protocol and Consular services effectively and efficiently for the development and maintenance of appropriate mechanisms, for efficient service delivery and sustainable foreign relations.
SUBJECT: ADVERTISEMENT TO FILL THE OFFICE OF FOREIGN SERVICE OFFICER I/CHIEF OF PROTOCOL
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons from WITHIN and OUTSIDE the Public Service to fill the office of Foreign Service Officer I/Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Diplomacy, Law, or a closely related field;
A Certificate in Diplomatic Studies, or a recognized professional certificate in protocol, international affairs, or event management, Advanced training in protocol procedures, intercultural communication, or statecraft will be considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR APPOINTMENT
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of a full range of functional areas such as protocol, reports management, and related protocoland administrative areas to ensure compliance with established policies, practices procedures, and controls;
Comprehensive knowledge of Public Service Rules and Regulations, Government operations and Public Sector issues;
Knowledge of key personnel and lines of authority within the Ministry and across the Whole-of-Government to effectively manage administrative and protocol activities and the follow of information;
Extensive knowledge of and understanding of government policies, procedures and practices for asset and fleet management;
Extensive knowledge of management analysis, principles, and concepts;
Sound knowledge and understanding of office procedures and operations;
Strong computer skills including Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct and supervise the preparation and strategic plans and coordinate activities directly linked to protocol servicesby the division;
Provide authoritative and comprehensive advice to management on protocol and consular matters;
Coordinate all the necessary arrangements for the appointment of Honorary Consuls, and Ambassadors-at-Largeabroad;
Administer all consular matters;
Maintain an accurate and efficient e-database of all protocol information;
Monitor work in progress to ensure the efficient implementation of work plans and effective use of resources;
Perform any other related duties as assigned by management which facilitates the effective execution of your responsibilities and functioning of the Division.
SALARY
The salary payable to the office is at the rate of $66,184.00 per annum in Grade (J), by incremental points to $86,378.00 per annum.
