JOB OVERVIEW:

The Chief Financial & Operations Officer (CFOO) is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring fiscal sustainability, and driving strategic financial growth across the Group and its subsidiaries. The CFOO will lead the documentation and updating of all financial and accounting policies in accordance with accepted international standards, including IFRS. He/she will redesign, implement and manage all financial and accounting systems, procedures, functions, and processes. He/she will ensure compliance with financial regulations, optimize capital structure, and provide data-driven insights to support sales, investments and other business decisions. The CFOO works closely with the CEO, the Head of Financial Services and Retail and assigned managers to ensure that customers are served promptly, courteously, and professionally and that problems are resolved with fairness, efficiency and effectiveness.  He/she will establish, define and implement policies related to Operations, including customer care and engagement, employee morale and productivity, and management development. Cognisant that he/she will also play a crucial role in strategic management, the CFOO will help define, implement and maintain an infrastructure strategy to support assigned teams and assist the CEO in the aggressive growth and successful expansion of the TDC Group of Companies. Above all, he/she will ensure that all businesses in the Group convey exceptional service levels that are always customer-focused, reliable and efficient.

EXPECTATION AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The CFOO shall be required to devote his or her full time and effort to the performance of the duties outlined in this document and such other duties as are assigned by the CEO to achieve the purposes of the position. The contract for employment of the CFOO will be for three (3) years, subject to satisfactory performance of the duties stipulated herein. It may thereafter be renewed if mutually agreed by the Board of Directors of TDC and the CFOO.

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the Group’s new strategic direction in financial planning and management.
  • Support the long-term financial soundness, profitability and compliance of the TDC Group.
  • Advocate for and implement financial policies and practices that meet international standards and comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Implement measures that will minimise losses and generate maximum annual profit to return an attractive dividend to shareholders.
  • Manage the Finance and Accounting team and functions, including financial management, accounting, audit and reporting, investment management and all transactional activities.
  • Manage the teams responsible for the TDC Group’s Service Excellence, Sales and Marketing, Information Technology, Human Resources, Procurement and Contracting, Safety and Security, providing reliable leadership, support, and professional guidance to all Heads of Departments.
  • Ensure that all Strategic Operations (as defined herein) are in accordance with applicable international standards, laws and policies that result in efficient and effective functions and processes.
  • Assume overall responsibility for achieving and exceeding all annual targets under the fiscal and operational components of the Strategic/Business Plan approved by the Board of Directors. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design, lead and implement the Group’s Financial Re-engineering Strategy to achieve growth and expansion
  • Lead Financial Reporting, Audit & Compliance.
  • Oversee Treasury Management and Capital Adequacy
  • Drive Cost Optimization and Profitability
  • Oversee Group Operations resulting in risk mitigation and enhanced efficiency
  • Accentuate Customer Service, Sales and Marketing
  • Promote and support Information Technology and Business Intelligence
  • Establish policies that uphold the Group’s Vision, Mission and Culture of Excellence.
  • Lead Team development and performance.
  • Manage relationships with Investors, Suppliers, other key stakeholders.
  • Communicates the TDC Vision and Values, its Mission and can-do culture to the Group’s internal and external customers.
  • Represent TDC at meetings, conferences and seminars, local and overseas as required.
  • Any other work allocated by the CEO from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent). 
  • A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Strong background proven in Corporate Finance, Accounting and Business Operations.
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior corporate leadership role.

Preferred:

  • 15 years corporate leadership overseeing managers in diverse disciplines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Must demonstrate:

  • Proven experience as a Chief Financial & Operations Officer or Chief Operating Officer or related role.
  • Proven experience in Strategic financial planning and execution. 
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
  • Expertise in financial modeling. 
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems. 
  • Strong organizational, leadership and team management skills. 
  • Exceptional negotiation skills. 
  • Proven experience in successfully managing people and budgets.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Proven experience in identification and mitigation of operational risk.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Understanding of business functions such as Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, IT, HR.
  • Proficient using MS Office suite.
