CHIEF ENGINEER (ENGINEERING MANAGER)
Requirements & Technical Competencies:
MUST be an all-rounder
- HVAC and plant systems certification preferred
- Fire Life Safety and safety compliance certification
- Engineering or technical certification in Mechanical Electrical or Building Services
Bachelors Degree + Skill Certifications is a Plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall accountability for the hotel’s Plant Operations Maintenance Engineering and Compliance POMEC function
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of all mechanical electrical plumbing HVAC fire life safety and building systems
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programs aligned with luxury brand standards
- Oversee statutory inspections safety systems and regulatory compliance
- Manage engineering budgets contractors energy efficiency and capital projects
- Provide technical leadership to the Engineering team while supporting operational excellence and guest satisfaction
Requirements & Technical Competencies:
Technical certification or formal training in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, or Building Services
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of:
Electrical systems (low and medium voltage, controls, troubleshooting)
Plumbing systems (domestic water, drainage, pumps)
Mechanical systems
HVAC systems (preferred but not required)
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and support all plant, equipment, and building systems
Ensure compliance with life safety, statutory, and brand standards
Coordinate inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance
Supervise Engineers and ensure SOP and service standards are met
Apply structured, project-based execution to maintenance and repairs
Support energy conservation, vendor works, and minor projects
Resolve guest-related engineering issues efficiently
- Up to date Certified Lifeguard and Lifesavers Certification through NEPA & The Royal Life Saving Society Jamaica
- Proven experience as a Certified Lifeguard and/or Pool Attendant
- Proactively identify, anticipate, and resolve operational issues to prevent service disruptions.
- Maintain pool and spa chemical balance and temperature levels in accordance with local regulations and guest comfort standards.
- Ensure pool and public areas are clean, safe, and debris-free through daily skimming, vacuuming, cleaning and inspection.
- Perform plumbing repairs efficiently, including maintenance of pipework, showers, filters, grates, and related fixtures.
- Conduct routine and deep cleaning of pool surfaces, tiles, and surrounding areas as required.
- Maintain and service pool filtration systems, drums, and jets to ensure optimal performance.
- Accurately log daily temperature and chemical readings in accordance with compliance requirements.
- Support special projects and assignments as directed by management.
