The Business Support Officer acts as the middle office liaison for CIB, handling administrative tasks for primary and secondary market transactions. The role supports risk mitigation and ensures all transactions are completed in line with operational procedures.

Job Summary:

The Business Support Officer serves as the “Middle office” Liaison for Corporate and Investment Banking. He/she assists in managing the administrative functions for transactions coordinated by CIB (primary and secondary markets). The Business Support Officer plays an important part of the risk mitigation controls and must ensure the seamless completion of all CIB transactions ensuring operational procedures are adhered to.

 

Functional Assignments:

  • Work closely with the CIB team to facilitate the unit’s administrative and operational aspects and ensures the efficiency of the Origination and Sales and Trading team.
  • Monitor the efficient, timely and accurate execution of all CIB transactions (primary and secondary), whilst ensuring compliance of all policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the overall success of AMBL’s unit by supporting initiatives, strategies and design. 
  • Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day activities associated with adherence to process and procedure, due diligence, sales reporting, sales promotion, and all items required to close any deals in conjunction with the front office personnel.  

 

Key Duties:

  • Maintains a register of clients including contact details and bank instructions.
  • Ensures that the KYC process of on-boarding clients is complete to transaction readiness by dealing with clients (external), sales managers (internal) and compliance team.
  • Ensures that relevant supporting documentation for each transaction is approved, attached and filed.
  • Supports all fixed income trading activities from the fixed income trading team through trade verifications, which include the following:
    • Review of transactions, investigation of all trade settlements, reconciliation of any trade discrepancies and work directly with counterparties to ensure timely settlement.
    • Ensure that all trades are recorded and filed on the day trade is completed.
    • Serve, once applicable, as liaison between CIB and the Trinidad & Tobago Central Depository (“TTCD”) for Repo Program.
    • Submit all necessary documentation to TTCD.
    • Creation of pledgee accounts on DEPEND.
  • Liaises/follow up with the Treasury team on all cash movements (receipts and disbursements).
  • Prepares all CIB deal tickets including, but not limited to, sale & purchase confirmations, remittances and investment confirmation.
  • Supports the Registrar and Paying Agent desk with the preparation of audit confirmations for all CIB clients.
  • Ensures the timely remittance of funds for all CIB transactions.
  • Serves as liaison between clients, counterparties, and internal groups to follow for endorsed trade tickets, confirmation of bank mandates and receipt of funds.
  • Prepares Transfer Forms for any trades executed by the Sales and Trading Team.
  • Works with senior associate regarding the reconciliation of trading portfolios to the General/Sub Ledger Report
  • Other reasonable tasks that may be instructed by the GM CIB.

 

Basic Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred major or concentration in Business/Finance) or studying towards a relevant professional qualification e.g., ACCA/CIMA

 

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Basic knowledge and experience processing of capital market products (treasuries, agencies, corporates, structured products, repos, equities).
  • Prior experience with the use of Bloomberg, Trade Flow and a working knowledge of trade processing.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in trade support, back office, or middle office with experience in trade matching, confirmation, and/or settlement of Fixed Income Instruments, Repos as well as retail/corporate loans

 

Behavioral Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills; Numerical reasoning; Arithmetic computation; Using tables and graphs and high level of attention to detail.
  • Great ability to manage workflow where the frequency of transactions can vary with short notice.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines with traders, brokers, and custodians.
  • Relationship building skills to establish rapport with business, operations, and technology.
  • Good attitude and highly motivated self-starter.
