PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB  

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving sales growth of the company’s specialty baked products including burger breads, hot dog rolls, pocket rum cakes, fruit cakes, and mini rolls etc. within the hospitality, food service, and institutional markets. This role focuses on acquiring new customers, building long-term partnerships, and ensuring consistent product placement and visibility across hotels, restaurants, airport gift shops, and vendor outlets island wide. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the HORECA and other institutional channels. 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with hotel purchasing managers, restaurant owners, gift shop buyers, and vendors. 

  • Conduct market visits, product presentations, and sampling sessions to introduce new baked products. 

  • Negotiate pricing, promotions, and supply terms in alignment with company policies. 

  • Ensure product availability and proper merchandising at all assigned accounts. 

  • Monitor competitors’ activities, pricing, and customer feedback to identify market trends and opportunities. 

  • Collaborate with the production and distribution teams to ensure timely deliveries and excellent customer satisfaction. 

  • Prepare and submit weekly reports on sales performance, new customer acquisition, and market coverage. 

  • Achieve monthly and quarterly sales and customer acquisition targets set by sales manager. 

  • Represent the brand at trade shows, food fairs, and hospitality networking events. 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) 

  • Number of new customers acquired monthly. 

  • Total sales volume and revenue generated from the HORECA channel. 

  • Customer retention and reorder rate. 

  • Market coverage (number of parishes, segments, or chains penetrated). 

  • Achievement of monthly sales targets. 

  • Quality of sales reporting and customer feedback. 

  • Timely submission of weekly report 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS 

  • Self-motivated and target-driven.  

  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.  

  • Confident, persuasive, and results-oriented.  

  • Strong planning and territory management ability.  

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.  

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in FMCG or Foodservice sales (preferably bakery, beverage, or hospitality sector).  

  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills. 

          Proven record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.  

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively across the island.  

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and follow-up skills.  

 

WORKING CONDITION 

  • Long hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to meet deadlines. 

  • Required to be available to perform duties at any time when necessary. 

  • Must be prepared to manage intense emotional and stressful situations.  

  • Must be able to tolerate various personalities.
