Reports to: General Manager

Overview

We are seeking a results-driven and commercially minded Business Development Manager to lead revenue growth, customer engagement, and market expansion across local and regional markets.

This is a senior role responsible for identifying and closing new business opportunities, strengthening key customer relationships, and driving performance across a team of approximately 5–7 sales and customer service professionals.

The organization operates in the distribution of industrial and chemical raw materials, serving both B2B and retail customers across sectors including manufacturing, adhesives and sealants, food processing, hardware, and related industries.

You will play a critical role in shaping business strategy, expanding into new markets, and ensuring the company consistently meets its revenue and profitability targets.

 

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities across industries and markets
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow revenue, margins, and market share
  • Actively build and manage a strong pipeline through prospecting, referrals, and market intelligence
  • Lead negotiations and close high-value deals

Key Account Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major customers and distributors
  • Regularly engage customers to understand needs, identify opportunities, and gather feedback
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term retention

Sales Leadership & Performance

  • Lead and manage the Sales and Customer Service teams to achieve revenue and performance targets
  • Monitor performance against budgets and KPIs, and take corrective action where needed
  • Provide coaching, structure, and accountability across the team

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing dynamics
  • Provide strategic recommendations to leadership on growth opportunities and product positioning
  • Support the development and launch of new products

Operations, Delivery & Collections Oversight

  • Ensure alignment between sales, customer service, and delivery operations
  • Oversee collections performance and manage customer credit exposure
  • Maintain efficient processes to support accurate order fulfilment and customer satisfaction

Compensation

This is a performance-driven role with strong earning potential. Total compensation includes a base salary and performance-based incentives tied to revenue growth, collections, and overall team performance.

 

Who We’re Looking For

This role is best suited for someone who: 

  • Thinks commercially and understands how to drive profitable growth
  • Is proactive in identifying and pursuing new opportunities
  • Builds strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Holds teams accountable while developing their performance
  • Is comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in sales, business development, or commercial management
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
  • Experience managing key accounts and closing new business
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Leadership experience managing sales or customer-facing teams
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is an asset
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable motor vehicle
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel as required
